Vangelis Economou

Bio

Dr. Vangelis Economou has graduated from the Veterinary School of Thessaloniki in 1999. He was awarded his Ph.D. title in 2006 from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina. He has been trained in the University of Bonn, the Central Public Health Laboratory Service (UK), and in the University of Copenhagen. From 2013 and on he has started working in the Department of Hygiene and Technology of Food of Animal Origin, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) in which he is currently an Assistant Professor of Food Hygiene and Veterinary Public Health. He has authored 28 articles in international peer reviewed journals, 6 chapters in internationally published books and 14 announcements in international conferences. He has been an external reviewer for 42 international scientific journals. His current research interests involve meat and seafood hygiene with an emphasis on the control of foodborne pathogens and the emergence of antimicrobial resistance.
